La boutique jaune

One of the most parisian places  is the "yellow shop" bakery and deli, rue des Rosiers, since 1946.

My mother was often baking pastries from all around the world when I was a child, and the poppyseed cake, the makowiec, from central europe is a sweet memory.

These poppyseed cakes are more looking like cinderblocks than pastries !

I seriously hurted my Achilles tendon while dancing in a ballet class lately, and am not currently allowed to be walking ( which means that I will paint instead of shopping :)  this is so frustrating, but before this, I had been to Sacha Finkelsztajn's shop in Le Marais and purchased some of these delightful pastries:

One of these days I will have to talk of another delicious pastry : Angelina's Mont Blanc

"Ingredients are transformed"

French kids are on vacation this week, so it was an urgent need to put art into their brain, before lying as geeks on their computers in their bedrooms until going back to college. Yesterday was a sunny and almost warm day, everybody smiled around the Centre Pompidou:

These 2 photos credits : my son Werner :)

Photos with my very old Iphone, the very first one by the way, bring memories of the SX70 polaroid's pictures, trash images but I like them anyway.

Do you know this artist ? Troels Wörsel ?

One of his pieces is currently in the museum of modern art :
" The Danish artist Troels Wörsel is analytic in his art, exploring the very elements of painting in a practice he does not hesitate to compare to cookery. This is not as odd an idea as might appear, as in both cases, ingredients are transformed. Liquid or viscous paint, for instance, changes appearance as it dries, to prompt pleasure or disgust. " le Centre Pompidou

On march 7th, a Matisse exhibition, if ever you are coming to Paris in the following months...

Macarons success !!!

It all began like this :

In the oven the macarons started to make "la collerette" and I was so proud....
for a few minutes, because at the end of baking, it had almost disappeared...

At this time in the oven, they looked really nice !

Isn't this frustrating ?

With "la ganache au chocolat", I am sure I won't be hired by Pierre Hermé, but we ate them all here and found them SO scrumptious !!!

Coming soon

Ooooooooh ! Who put these tools away ? in such a tidy way ?
This is quite unusual but no need to talk of my 2012 good resolutions again.

I am currently working on my Cintiq tablet, updating my illustrator's website, but I will be back to watercolor soon.

Waiting for springtime !

Avocado dip !

From time to time, I NEED to cook a guacamole; This recipe is so easy, but did you notice that nobody makes the same one ? Either with garlic or without, with onions or without, with olive oil ? with lime or lemon ? I saw a guacamole recipe including cottage cheese. I am always adding ground cumin in mine.
I chose a "classic" recipe for my new print.

Here are some lovely Etsy finds; Isn't this avocado color fantastic ? sometimes it is close to Mint color or to Veronese green :
